ABOUT ME
My Background
I first grew to love journalism in middle school, when I took my first video production course and began writing for the school newspaper. In high school, I continued practicing journalism when I became president of my school’s video club. While in video club, I covered varsity sports games, district events, and extracurricular club activities. At the end of each sports season, I collected photos and videos to edit together a 15 minute long video to present at the awards ceremonies for varsity sports. Each year I also submitted short, documentary-style videos to my school’s annual film festival. In my junior year, I was given the opportunity to attend Stony Brook University’s Greene Team. This program was a week-long seminar for high school journalists to stay on campus and work with the school of journalism’s professors to create a variety of multimedia news stories.

As a student of Stony Brook University’s School of Journalism, I became proficient in reporting, writing and editing. With access to a fully functioning newsroom, I was able to master multi-medium programs such as Adobe Premiere, Audition and Photoshop.

In my final semester at Stony Brook, I interned with FLG Lacrosse and Long Island Lacrosse Journal. In addition to attending lacrosse tournaments and posting live clips on social media, each week I completed an average of three projects.

Each project included an interview where I had to research and come up with questions, and reach out to the players and coaches to set up the interviews. After the interviews, I worked on drafting the articles and editing them in WordPress, where I worked to improve the SEO analysis. Once the articles were finished, I designed new graphics using Canva for each social post using photos of the subjects for the features. When I finished the graphics, I came up with the captions and scheduled the posts to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using Hootsuite. Once the posts were published, I worked to promote the posts online by sharing to stories, adding links and engaging with comments. I also helped create and publish FLG's first ever weekly newsletter, the "FLG Reveal," using InfusionSoft, a CRM software site.
