Aidan Mulholland is preparing to take his skills to the University of Michigan next fall. Before the Manhasset midfielder becomes a Wolverine, he plans to make the most of his senior season following the spring’s cancellation. Mulholland distinguished himself among the class of 2021 by committing to UM just days before the rule change. He’s a skilled two-way player and has been a top performer among his class, which will help him stand out in the Big 10 conference.

Q: What about Michigan and its lacrosse program helped you decide it was the right school for you?

A: Michigan is a very special school as it values both their students and athletes greatly. The education I will be getting is going to be incredible and I am very excited for it. As for lacrosse, Michigan has an incredible lacrosse facility that is like no other. I love the coaching staff that is at Michigan. Coach Kevin Conry has always believed in me, even after being previously recruited by Coach John Paul. I know that this coaching staff will make me a better player. The team has a great bond and I can’t wait to join the locker room. I am very excited to get to Michigan and can’t wait to be a Michigan man.

Q: Are there any areas in your game that you’re working on to be even better at the college level?

A: I am working on shooting on the run right now and as well as being more accurate with my shots. I want to be more of a threat when I get to the college level.

Q: Have you always played midfield? What about this position has made you stick to it?

A: I have played midfield since I was a little kid. I have always found that I can run pretty well, and that I am a strong down hill dodger. I have started to move down to attack, and get runs at both midfield and attack which I really love. My cousin Gavin Petracca played attack at North Carolina so he has taught me a bunch about playing attack.

Q: Who are some of the people that have helped attribute to your success?

A: A lot of people have helped me to get where I am. My uncle Michael was the man who put the stick in my hand when I was young. I attribute a lot of my success to him. He’s the man who taught me lacrosse and work ethic. I used to take lessons with Matt Sutherland, who was a former lacrosse player at Georgetown, and he helped develop my game as a kid. My club lacrosse coach, Anthony Alexander has also helped me incredibly. He has taught me a lot as I grew up, and I have played for igloo my whole life.

Q: What are you most looking forward to when you take the field as a college athlete?

A: I am most looking forward to wearing a Michigan Jersey, playing for my family, and representing Manhasset. I have been waiting for a long time to be able to take the field as a Michigan lacrosse player, and I am very excited to take the field next year.

Q: How do you feel your style of play will fit into Michigan’s system?

A: I feel like my style of play will fit well into Michigan’s system. I think the way I can dodge and play the 2 man game will work well in Michigan’s offense system.

Q: Playing for an elite high school program like Manhasset’s, do you feel like that has helped and will continue to help you be more ready to play at the college level?

A: I definitely think it has helped playing at Manhasset. Every season we compete against the best teams in the country, and as a lacrosse program the tradition we have is like no other. Our coaches do an incredible job of pushing us everyday at practice which I think attributes to our success.

Q: What are some of the individual goals or team goals that you would like to accomplish at Michigan?

A: I want us to win a Big Ten championship and a national championship. I want to be the best teammate I can be and I will do whatever I can to make our team the best it can possibly be!
